For Southside Hockey, the Israeli World Invite from February 3–21 represents one of the program’s most distinctive international competition periods. I couldn’t find a public tournament listing under that exact name and date range, so I’d treat those dates as Southside Hockey’s planned event rather than present them as an official IIHF tournament. The broader hockey connection is real, though: Israel is a full IIHF member with hundreds of registered players, including a substantial youth player base, and the country has continued competing internationally across senior and youth divisions.

For our program, the Invite is about more than traveling and playing games. It gives Southside players a chance to experience a different hockey culture, adjust to unfamiliar opponents, and learn how preparation, discipline, and teamwork translate across borders. The trip also connects naturally with the international backgrounds already represented within the Southside coaching staff. The focus throughout February 3–21 will be on competing with confidence, representing Chicago well, and returning home as smarter, more adaptable players with a broader view of the game.
